Sobell House is an 18 bed NHS hospice within Oxford University Hospitals Trust specially designed to provide Palliative and End of Life Care and support for patients and their families with advanced incurable disease. We provide specialist care aiming to focus on quality of life and respecting the uniqueness of each person.We have an exciting opportunity for innovative individuals to join our team at Sobell House as Deputy Ward Manager. As part of the senior nursing team you will assist the Ward Manager in providing excellent clinical and managerial leadership and will have the opportunity to gain an insight into the Ward Manager role.   • To be professionally and clinically responsible to patients within the ward, providing and maintaining a high standard of care and maintaining a communication link between patient and organisation
  • To maintain and continually develop specialist knowledge and skills relevant to the clinical area and to provide an out of hours Triage Service and act as a specialist resource to the Trust
  • Regularly act as shift coordinator, participating in the allocation of workload, ensuring efficient bed management, effective patient care and safety on the ward
  • Contribute to the development of clinical practice, with regards to Departmental, Trust and National recommendations, communicating this to junior colleagues in a positive manner in order to maintain a consistent, motivated ward focus.

  • Demonstrable experience in ward co-ordination
  • Excellent clinical skills, able to deliver a high standard of care.
  • Ability to motivate self and others
