We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, experienced designer to join our innovative, Brighton-based team.Bright Press creates illustrated nonfiction books across a wide range of categories including gardening, natural history science, art and travel. As a Designer, you’ll play a vital role in helping to shape the visual direction of our list. This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with our experienced team and work with leading publishers from around the world.Contract PermanentSalary Starting from £30,000 (Full-time)Working hours35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We currently operate a discretionary hybrid model, with three days in our Brighton office and two working from home. We will also consider applicants who wish to work 28 hours per week.About the roleThis is a varied and exciting role for a highly creative and organised person. Reporting to the Art Director, you will work closely with the commissioning team to design covers and sample spreads for new projects. You will also support the editorial team with design-related tasks on live titles and reprints.You will need to ensure that all work is delivered to the highest standard and on schedule, and that all administration and file management is up to date and accurate.What you will be involved in:

  • Designing concept covers and spreads for new ideas
  • Producing materials for book fairs and sales presentations
  • Designing and adjusting covers for live titles
  • Resolving technical issues and performing pre-press checks
  • Supporting the editorial team with design queries
  • Briefing and managing freelance designers, illustrators, and photographers
  • Managing corrections on reprints and backlist titles
  • Working to agreed schedules and budgets
