Join our Detached Youth Team, a street-based service dedicated to reaching and supporting young people who may not access mainstream youth provisions.As a Detached Youth Worker, you will be part of a motivated and supportive team working directly with young people in diverse community settings such as local estates, parks and public spaces. You will build trust and foster meaningful relationships with young people, particularly those who are marginalised or at risk, empowering them to become active citizens in their neighbourhoods. Your work will focus on promoting personal growth, resilience and life skills while addressing issues such as antisocial behaviour to create safer, more inclusive communities.In addition to street-based outreach, you will contribute to a range of activities including delivering workshops in primary and secondary schools, supporting community events and participating in project and programme delivery. These varied responsibilities ensures that your work has a broad and lasting impact across communities. This role requires flexibility, resilience and adaptability. Your work will involve some unsociable hours including evenings and weekends and spending significant time outdoors. Public engagement is a key aspect of the role, requiring strong interpersonal skills to navigate interactions with diverse individuals including those who may present challenges.Alongside your direct work with young people, you will ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, adhering to Council policies and departmental codes of practice. This is a physically demanding yet deeply rewarding role offering the opportunity to make a tangible and lasting impact in the lives of young people and their communities.This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. You will be an excellent communicator who has the ability to engage and work innovatively with new young people and engaging them and their families and other professionals in order to assess, develop and deliver interventions and activities.You’ll be a committed and passionate professional who can work with young people to offer a holistic support services that develop their personal and social skills and participation in society.
