Job SummaryJob DescriptionDeveloper, Wealth ManagementWhat is the Opportunity?The Portfolio Advisory Group (PAG) is responsible for advising RBC Wealth Management Canada’s ~2000 Investment Advisors, who collectively manage more than $550 billion in assets under management at RBC Dominion Securities. The team provides support on a broad range of investment-related activities, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, equity, fixed income, alternatives, active and passive fulfillment evaluation and selection, and individual security analysis.The Developer is part of the Investment Analytics team, supporting the investment teams and more specifically enhancing the team’s delivery capabilities developing our web analytics platform so that more informed decisions can be made to raise the quality and outcomes across a range of our portfolios.This is an opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and some exposure to investment industry to continue applying web development, data engineering, and automation skills, and develop knowledge with us on performance and risk.What will you do?Support I&T’s ability to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of PAG’s investment strategy by partnering with various groups across RBC.Design, implement, and continuously support the development of our web analytics platform (dash, flask, fastapi).Design, implement, and continuously expand data pipelines by performing extraction, transformation, and loading activities.Help improve processes through automation where possible.Ensure policies and procedures are implemented and documented.Conduct Ad hoc projects, data extractions or analysis as directed.Be a part of a start-up like setting where fast-fail is highly valued, level of uncertainty is high and requirements are not all defined in advance (iterative feedback loop).What do you need to succeed?Must Have:At least 5 years experience of web development work, and data engineering.Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, or strong technical skills with Business degree or MIS.Experience in Microsoft SQL Server, and programming languages/related frameworks (Python, Javascript, HTML, CSS).Strong interest or exposure to investments/markets.Knowledge of financial systems (FactSet, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, etc) and working with time series data from these vendors.Nice to Have:Experience using Git, Github, Openshift, agile design methodologies and frameworks.Pursuing/interest in Chartered Financial Analyst or other finance/risk training or designation.Experience using cloud-enabled technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically S3, Athena, EMR, RDS, or other AWS database related products.Experience with big data analytics technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Kafka); experience compiling, manipulating and analyzing large datasets, with a good understanding of data processing frameworks.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
