Job description

Expected Shortlisting Date:19/03/2025Planned Interview Date:27/03/2025Over 61,000 people work in health and social care across Leeds. In Leeds, one of our strategic workforce priorities is to reduce health inequalities in and through our workforce. We know that certain populations in our city have poorer health outcomes than others. This can be linked to where they live, their ethnicity, a disability and range of wider characteristics. As a city we have embarked on a range of initiatives to address Health Inequalities, and the development of a new Health Equity CPD programme is focussed initially on supporting our nurses, midwives, AHPs and care support workers to better understand and reduce inequalities. The ambition of the programme is to work with stakeholders to identify the gaps in training provision that will make a real difference to practice and co-develop what is required for staff in both direct care provider roles and in coordinator and leadership roles, as well as supporting whole team development.Main duties of the jobThe Development Lead will work closely with our health and care partnerships to scope, design, deliver and evaluate the Health Equity CPD programme across the city. The role has a varied and evolving workload for which you will need excellent interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication. A key part of the role is to support and develop a portfolio of Learning and Development products relating to health equity so an understanding of professional training and education methodologies will be important, along with an interest in reducing health inequalities. High attention to detail and the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously to make decisions are essential. The successful candidate will have experience in leading and co-ordinating training and development projects which connect across a wider programme of work. You will need to be proactive, willing to learn and enjoy problem solving.About usThe Leeds Health and Care Academy is a unique and exciting service working on behalf of the entire Leeds health and care sector. We work in partnership with Leeds NHS Trusts, Leeds City Council, the ICB in Leeds, the citys colleges and universities and third sector to maximise the opportunities that a joined-up approach could bring. Our work spans learning and development for the current workforce, supporting candidates moving into or across health and care organisations in Leeds, and working alongside partners on collaborative workforce projects that have been designed to strengthen our effectiveness as a system. Our ambition is for Leeds to be the best city for training and working in the sector, with progressive, diverse careers for all students and staff, inspiring the next generation of health and care workers. It will be a healthy and caring city for all ages, where people who are the poorest improve their health the fastest.Leeds Teaching Hospitals is committed to our process of redeploying ‘at risk’ members of our existing workforce to new roles.
