About The RoleWorking Hours: 35 Hours per weekContract Type: Full-Time, Temporary for 12 monthsAdditional Payments: Casual Car User AllowanceClosing Date: 21 January 2025Interview Method: In Person (Face to Face)This role is subject to –Casual Car Documentation – The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.About the serviceDigital inclusion is an integral part of the Manchester Digital Strategy: Doing Digital Together. The ‘Remarkable People, Extraordinary Opportunities’ theme within the strategy recognises that digital inclusion and digital skills make up the essential foundation for making Manchester one of the world’s leading digital cities.The strategy’s Delivery Plan sets out a number of key priorities to achieve digital inclusion across the city. The Digital Inclusion Team drive the delivery of these priorities through the Digital Inclusion Action Plan, working with partners to deliver an innovative programme that supports residents to have the access, motivation and skills needed to navigate the digital landscape with confidence. The Digital Inclusion team are making Manchester a more connected and empowered city, and the model and approach are leading the way – both regionally and nationally.About the roleWe are seeking an experienced community engagement practitioner to be an integral member of the Digital Inclusion Team. They will work with external partners to embed digital inclusion into their practice. The role will involve developing partnerships, managing and recruiting volunteers, communications, policy advocacy, planning initiatives and project delivery.About the CandidateWe are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with experience of working with residents and community organisations. You will have experience of delivering and managing successful projects and be skilled at developing and managing partnerships. You will have proven abilities in working with community groups for the benefit of residents.You will have a good understanding of the current thinking around digital inclusion, including UK policy, and regional & national initiatives. You will be competent in a range of software (for example Microsoft Office and content management systems) and understand ways in which new developments in digital could benefit the residents in the city.The candidate will have good interpersonal skills, have the ability to work both independently and in a team, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. You will need a high level of project management skills, and the ability to measure and demonstrate the impact of projects.The post holder will be occasionally required to work flexible hours in response to service requirements including evenings and weekends.About UsIn accordance with Home Office guidance, successful candidates must evidence their right to work in the UK before commencement of employment.
