Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual with a strong technical background to develop and manage digital systems that support our thriving and innovative community of academics, students and professional staff in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London.
Working in the Faculty’s Digital Services Team, the Digital Systems Officer fulfils a crucial support function for staff and students, developing cloud-based technological solutions that support effective internal collaboration and improve life at Imperial.
Duties and responsibilities
Based in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, you will perform an essential role within the Digital Services Team, managing the digital platforms and data that support effective internal collaboration.
In this important role you will work to create and maintain cloud-based digital content, applications, and data connections for Faculty use. This service will improve the ways in which we collect, process and report on information, and will facilitate innovative collaborative working, process automation, and efficient information sharing and engagement across the Faculty.
You will be responsible for managing and supporting the use of SharePoint Online and Office 365 applications; seeking opportunities to improve processes and working methods, gathering requirements, building intranet content, building data flows and models, providing training to users and representing the needs and requirements of the Faculty in College digital collaboration projects. You will also be expected to monitor and report on the use of digital services and information infrastructure across the Faculty to inform decisions about ongoing use.

Essential requirements
- A degree or equivalent qualification
- Experience of managing the development of SharePoint Online sites
- Strong technical background, particularly with Microsoft Office 365
- Experience of using the Microsoft Power Platform, particularly development of Power Apps and Power Automate
- Experience of providing training and support to a diverse customer base
- Understanding of Microsoft products and cloud computing services
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand and apply new concepts swiftly
- Ability to apply knowledge creatively in new contexts, and to think beyond traditional solutions
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with a broad range of people, including senior management
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise written material
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to respond to frequently changing priorities
- Ability to work independently to manage and prioritise a diverse workload
- Ability to work well as a member of a team, or on own initiative.

This is a full time, open-ended position based at South Kensington Campus.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
