We also engage in collaborations with the leading academic institutes in the space of AI and machine learning to promote the exchange of latest technology developments and enrich our talents.Reporting into the Senior Director of Advanced Analytics and AI, this role is responsible for understanding strategic initiatives, recommending and delivering complex advanced models and AI solutions to support their goals. This Director will lead, manage and mentor a team of Junior and Senior Data Scientists. This role requires a hands-on approach to solving problems, planning and managing change related to all aspects of the client-facing roles related to Analytics and AI initiatives.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How You Will SucceedChampion the use of Advanced Analytics and AI to solve business problems- Work with various business units to understand their needs, opportunities and pain points. Become the trusted Advanced Analytic & AI partner to the internal stakeholders and successfully manage and deliver on key analytical initiatives. Ensure the solutions are fit-for-purposeOversee and complete the implementation and evaluation of proposed models- Lead the team to create, validate and monitor both traditional AI/ML and GenAI based solutions that deal with both structure and unstructured data sets; Provide the solution end-to-end from scoping to completion. Refresh or revise the solution as business needs evolve or based on the monitoring results.Provide effective leadership- Lead a high performing functional team, develop team and individual’s capabilities by coaching and providing training and learning opportunities; Hire the right talent that align with individual competencies with job requirements and business goals. Set appropriate context to ensure the team’s alignment to the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals. Manage performance by providing constructive and fair feedbacks through ongoing touchpoints and year end process. Remove obstacles and set expectations that align with business objective. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork and accountability.You demonstrate advanced knowledge of traditional AI techniques in prediction, classification, forecasting, optimization, and/or GenAI techniques.You have extensive hands-on experience with modern data science and machine learning languages and toolkits including: Python, Pandas, scikit-learn, XGBoost, Tensorflow, Pytorch, and various LLMs. Additionally, you have strong coding skills, knowledge of SQL, DevOps tooling and experience with one or more cloud services. Solid project management and demonstrated ability in the successful delivery of large, high impact and multi-faceted projects.You’re a certified professional. You have an M.S. or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree.You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop unique solutions to complex and abstract issues and to provide interpretive advice to business and functional leaders.Strong influential/negotiations skills sufficient to recognize and respond to concerns of multiple interests and to lead/shape the decision making process in situations that involve complexity and ambiguityWell-developed communication and relationship management skills to convey technical information in understandable terms; superior blend of consulting and analytical skills.
