Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (“OSUWMC”), James Cancer and Solove Research Institute (“OSUCCC – James”) is committed to continuously improving the quality of care provided to patients as well as the systems supporting research, care coordination, and operations. The OSUCCC – James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (“NCI”)–designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities. CancerBridge provides educational oncology support for local, regional, and national clients.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Business Development, the Business Development Director (“Director”) drives and supports the business and financial operations of Domestic Destination Medicine to provide care coordination, concierge, and support to patients with permanent addresses nationally outside 100 miles from the medical center. The Director leads business development for the program across the enterprise and University. The role provides shared leadership to staff to drive growth through strategic and programmatic development and implementation. The role interacts with colleagues across the organization in a collaborative, consultative, and results-oriented manner to achieve programmatic growth. The responsibility of this role includes the care coordination, process improvement, financial management, sales and business development, contract management, strategy and roadmap development; adapting, innovating, and improving every aspect of business development to achieve our organization’s financial goals.
Position Summary
The Director is responsible for leading, guiding, and providing administrative direction for Domestic Destination Medicine. This role provides direction for creation and execution of vision, strategy, and operating plans and will drive innovation to enhance the company’s position and competitive advantage in the market.
The Director develops, aligns, and operationalizes all Domestic Destination Medicine activities in support of the overall programmatic goals ensuring increased awareness and national market expansion. The Director is responsible for identifying gaps in the existing program and adjusting accordingly, tracking toward the five-year roadmap.
The Director is responsible for business development activities including new business development and management in collaboration with legal counsel, new patient conversions in domestic market, P&L oversight, and quarterly reporting to the Senior Director regarding financial health and future strategy. The Director provides leadership and direction in developing and translating financial budget, benchmarking and productivity objectives into action and achievement.
The Director is responsible for collaborating in care coordination and team management. Providing program oversight and leadership to the team including care coordinators and other roles within the department. The Director develops and maintains effective working relationships with medical staff, administrators, internal and external partners, and patients. The Director participates in professional organizations, national events & workgroups to promote the image of the organization externally.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience in operations management including leading teams in a patient focused environment.
