We are an equal opportunity employer.Director, Business DevelopmentTerraPower is looking for a highly experienced, credible and well-connected business development professional who is energetic, professional and knowledgeable of nuclear, energy, or related businesses. TerraPower’s Director, Business Development will work with executive leadership to develop and implement the Plan to identify, and achieve awards of industry and federal business opportunities through leveraging TerraPower’s IP, Design, Engineering and Innovation talent; to include establishing TerraPower as a teaming partner for select opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess significant international experience.Responsibilities

  • Leadership responsibility for the scoping, direction and growth of business development activities for TerraPower.
  • Establish processes to identify and track opportunities; and to select those opportunities that TerraPower should pursue, consistent with the BD Plan.
  • Lead cross organizational efforts with executive management, operations, contracts/procurement and innovation to successfully identify, develop and secure commercial and federal opportunities, and industry teaming awards.
  • Lead strategic structuring efforts for established and/or unconventional partnering opportunities promoting TerraPower’s unique capabilities.
  • Ensure strategic business development and teaming opportunities are well understood and endorsed by executive management.
  • Conduct competitive analysis; 1) teaming analysis; 2) customer messaging; 3) win themes; 4) differentiation; 5) win probability; 6) lead capture reviews and identify decision gates.
  • Pre-Proposal, develop activities and campaigns to include: 1) appropriate participation in industry and government publications/periodicals and relevant conferences, 2) ensure message alignment addressing target customer requirements and initiatives; 3) expand existing and develop new relationships with Government leadership to develop awareness of TerraPower’s capabilities and initiatives while ensuring alignment at senior levels within the customer and TerraPower; and 4) build/expand relationships with industry partners for teaming opportunity.
  • Proposal phase, management responsibility for bid and proposal team efforts, and remain accountable for bid quality and competitive price targets.
  • Ensure executive management is appropriately informed and engaged as opportunities move through the selection and approval cycles.
  • Impact the profitability of the company by achievement of successful business development results with industry and federal verticals, as well as through teaming efforts.
  • Protect TerraPower assets by understanding and adhering to proper information security practices.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or other related field.
  • 15+ years’ successfully managing nuclear, energy, or related business development and capture efforts within industry, with strong preference for international experience.
  • Current and established executive-level relationships within government and industry verticals.
  • Strong track record for winning industry, federal and teaming awards.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Solid commercial acumen
  • Possess and demonstrate superior judgment, analytical ability and composure under pressure.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork

Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
