Job Summary As the Director of Business Travel and Employee Expenses you will lead a team that manages business travel services, employee expense policies and processes across all global regions in which RBC operates. This role is responsible for the development and execution of the department strategic goals and management of operational processes associated with Business Travel, Corporate Credit Card and Employee Expenses. The Director will collaborate with Business Units across the enterprise and oversee third party suppliers.Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As the Director of Business Travel and Employee Expenses you will lead a team that manages business travel services, employee expense policies and processes across all global regions in which RBC operates. This role is responsible for the development and execution of the department strategic goals and management of operational processes associated with Business Travel, Corporate Credit Card and Employee Expenses. The Director will collaborate with Business Units across the enterprise and oversee third party suppliers.You are a corporate travel professional who has developed a strong reputation working in the travel industry and thrive on optimizing processes to enhance employee experiences. You have demonstrated the ability to manage multiple priorities and possess a keen ability to drive initiatives with a sense of urgency while maintaining a strong partnership with all stakeholders.What will you do?Thought Leadership:

  • Drive and implement bold transformation initiatives to enhance employee experiences and drive cost reduction. Ideation and development of business cases to drive best in class travel and employees expense management processes and data analytics.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve traveler satisfaction. Ensure a safe, seamless, and cost-effective global travel program, optimize preferred supplier delivery, compliance, and service selection.
  • Drive efficiencies and automation opportunities from data analytics, expanding data marts to drive analysis.

Manager Business Travel and Employee Expense Operational Processes:

  • Provide active operational management from end-to-end fulfillment to policy, supplier management, compliance reporting and traveler support.
  • Optimize operational processes. Enhance tools, vendor, and processes to permit straight through processing of employee expense and business travel needs.
  • Accountable for initiatives design, planning and implementation. Develop and maintain integrated roadmap detailing project work streams, resolve issues, risks, and change management/communication.
  • Automate compliance focusing on reduction of manual process and streamline policy adherence.

Relationship Management:

  • Management of third party suppliers, including issue escalations/resolution, vendor performance, SLA optimization, integration of supplier’s services within Concur and Corporate Card programs. Drive RFP processes.
  • Primary lead for initiatives, manage communications and stakeholder engagement with Business Units globally.
  • Manage second level escalations on behalf of business travelers and travel suppliers.
  • Ownership and management of business travel, corporate credit card and employee expense policies.
  • Monitoring performance of the portfolio against policy offences, compliance, fraud & cost savings.

Managerial Excellence:

  • Manage, coach & develop a team of professionals, ensuring that employees understand RBC vision, and support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals.
  • Set performance goals, provide direction and leadership, foster strong commitment to teamwork and cooperation; provide constructive feedback in areas of success, opportunities and improvement. Conduct effective prioritization and capacity management.
  • Drive Leadership model behaviours. Continually demonstrate commitment to and application of RBC core value behaviours: respect, teamwork, integrity, collaboration, and diversity.

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • 5+ years Corporate Travel management. Solid understanding of Business Travel operations and travel industry best practices.
  • Strong project management experience successfully led enterprise-implementation projects.
  • 5+ years relationship management & supplier management, including RFPs.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy development.
  • Exemplary communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to develop and deliver business cases/change initiatives to senior executives.
  • Solid people management experience, recognized leadership and coaching abilities, strong team player/collaborator.
  • Post secondary degree in a related discipline.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Concur Travel.
  • Understanding of RBC risk programs (operational risk, controls).
