Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As part of the RBC Chief Administrative Office (CAO) team, the Director Data Management will lead a team that is responsible for delivering first line of defense Data Prioritization for all data domains in scope for Finance and Risk Data Management Office (FRDMO). This role involves identification and prioritization of Critical Data Elements (CDEs) and CDE change management process. Drive long-term efficiency by ensuring consistency in approach and adherence to Enterprise Data Policy and Standards.The Director, Data management will report to the Senior Director Data Management.What will you do?

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to Data Prioritization shared service team that supports finance and risk data management needs enterprise-wide
  • Define Product based CDE Identification Process and Methodology
  • Identification of Product-based Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
  • Data Definition, Data Dictionary / Catalog and Business Term curation for CDEs
  • Define and capture Business Rules for CDEs and associated physical data
  • Manage metadata model and workflows requirements for U.S. regulatory needs
  • Deliver Data Prioritization needs of additional U.S. subsidiaries ( Citi National Bank, RBC Bank Georgia ) and Regulatory programs ( CECL )
  • Design and operate effective CDE identification processes that meet the needs of RBC and satisfy the demands of regulators (OSFI, FRB and OCC) and Internal/External Auditors
  • Maintain effective relationships with lines of business, functions, and other RBC Data Management Offices (U.S. Data Strategy, CNB, RBC Bank Georgia)
  • Build and maintain key relationships with Stakeholder teams to gain insights into data prioritization requirements.
  • Support data management decisions across stakeholder group to improve compliance with the overall data strategy
  • Ensure that employees understand RBC vision; support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC and FRDMO goals
  • Conduct learning sessions to ensure that employees gain insights into OSFI & FRB regulations and its impact on data management
  • Provide focus and clarity in establishing both individual and team goals, driving performance management

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • 7 – 10 years people management experience in banking or data organization
  • 10+ years of experience working with Finance & Risk Regulatory Reporting (CCAR, FRTB, CECL, BCBS-239)
  • Demonstrable experience with executing large scale data / technology projects and regulatory programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to bridge the gap between business and IT, and initiate conversations with Stakeholders where necessary
  • Strong team building and people management skills

Nice-to-have

  • Finance or risk management certification/degree.
