Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?This role will provide strategic leadership and oversight over the financial and regulatory reporting mandate associated with the Canadian broker dealer businesses that span across the Capital Markets, Wealth Management and Canadian Banking platforms.What will you do?

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight over the financial control function for the Dominion Securities Inc. and Direct Investing legal entities, including leading a team of ~8 accounting and finance professionals.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and guidance in managing the accurate and timely performance of the weekly, monthly, and annual regulatory capital monitoring and report preparation in accordance with IIROC and CIPF regulatory framework.
  • Manage financial statement disclosures at the head office consolidated and legal entity level.
  • Manage and review quarterly financial and business analysis for consumption by senior management and Board of Directors.
  • Liaise and work with external and internal auditors in their annual audit and audit-related engagements.
  • Coordinate annual IIROC FinOps examination requirements.
  • Streamline, simplify and automate the design and execution of internal controls and processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  • Drive change, lead transformation projects and actively identify efficiency gains and opportunities for streamline and automation; proactively lead and execute on identified opportunities in light of changing management and financial reporting needs.

What do you need to succeed?Must-have

  • Professional Accounting/Finance designation (CPA, CA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in Accounting/Finance related roles, including regulatory and financial reporting within the broker dealer industry and knowledge of financial products
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills: Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication, relationship building and people management skills, including coaching, mentoring and development planning.
  • Strong organization and time management skills; ability to multi-task and handle demands from multiple sources amidst tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills with acute attention to detail, and the ability to think and prioritize tactically and strategically.
