Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As part of the BC Real Estate team, Commercial Real Estate (CRE) – Loan Syndications plays a key role in the realization of Commercial Real Estate’s objectives through the marketing, structuring, delivery and management of multi-bank debt solutions for a targeted customer base. The CRE team targets loan origination for Canadian real estate construction projects across all asset classes, as well as income producing real estate.Reporting to the Vice-President, Loan Syndications, the Director will be responsible for adding value to all aspects of the transaction lifecycle; this includes originating new Lead Arranger/Agency opportunities, providing structuring advice to CRE teams/clients and being solely responsible for marketing/loan distribution to support financing requirements of CRE borrowers. You will be a key source of market intelligence in relation to Canadian syndicated loans in the CRE space and be tasked with cultivating and maintaining relationships with other financial institutions. You will deliver best in class client experience and grow the RBC portfolio, while adhering to regulatory requirements and risk management practices.What will you do?Evaluate and structure bank financing arrangements to meet CRE client objectives. Liaise with leaders and deal teams across the country, Agency Services, National Office and Group Risk Management to ensure loan commitments are distributed in line with targetsCoordinate with all CRE groups including Relationship Management, Finance, GRM, and Capital Partners to evaluate and originate new businessAssist with negotiation of credit and other legal agreements with outside counsel, clients and participant lendersTake primary responsibility in negotiating, marketing and distributing senior bank financing transactions where RBC is mandated as Lead Arranger/Agent (including preparation of lender presentation, CIMs, agent communications etc.)Acts as key liaison between CRE and all other financial institutions who are loan participants in RBC-led transactions. This would include the initial transaction and subsequent amendments.Manager and respond to requirements of other lenders to help assist them in participating in CRE transactionsManage relationships with key stakeholders (including borrowers and partner FI’s)What do you need to succeed?Must have:Minimum 8 years’ experience in corporate/commercial lending including loan syndications, leverage finance, or similar rolesSpecial consideration for previous experience in Loan SyndicationsUndergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, or FinanceStrategic thinker with knowledge of capital markets, commercial/senior lending, and credit structuringProfessional oral and written communication skills with a particular emphasis on delivering compelling presentations and on influencing internal/external partnersAbility to perform well under pressure, meet time sensitive deadlines, prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities while working on multiple projectsKnowledge of the competitive landscape and Canadian real estate market, with a detailed knowledge of competitor propositionsExceptional negotiation skills and demonstrated tact in having difficult conversationsCollaborative team-oriented mindset with proficiency in coordinating large groups of colleagues, participants and clientsAbility to take initiative and function independentlyWell organized and able to set priorities and devote appropriate attention to each assignmentMust maintain high standards of professional and ethical conductHigh level of attention to detail in both written and financial workEnthusiasm to drive and grow RBC’s portfolio as Administrative AgentNice to have:MBA, CPA or CFAWhat’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
