Reporting to the Commissioner, Community Development, the Director, Municipal Enforcement is responsible for setting the strategic direction and operational management of the Municipal Enforcement Services Department, including By-law and parking enforcement, business licensing and contracted animal protective services, in accordance with by-laws, policies and procedures approved by Council. You will provide leadership in long-term planning, service planning and delivery, financial planning and sustainability, and organizational effectiveness to ensure the safety, well-being, and satisfaction of the public through high-quality, reliable, cost-effective services. As the Director, you will ensure that annual operating and capital budgets reflect the town’s strategic priorities, and ensure that productivity, efficiency, and municipal standards are effectively maintained and enforced. You will build positive relationships with Municipal Enforcement stakeholders, the Mayor, Council, other town Departments, the public, and local municipalities to ensure community participation and understanding.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience, and at least 8 years of management experience in a municipal law enforcement or administrative environment. Your experience is augmented with a post-secondary education in Public Administration, Law Enforcement, or a related field. You have demonstrated the ability to build strategic business plans, manage large capital programs, are a relationship builder, and are known for your strong leadership skills and service-oriented approach. You are politically astute, have strong working knowledge of provincial and federal legislation and demonstrated competencies in effectively implementing law enforcement policies with multiple interests. You are experienced in leveraging technology to innovate and build efficiencies within the operations you lead.
