Position Title Director of Compliance

Position Information The Department of Athletics at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites resumes for a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. The position reports to the Deputy Director of Athletics/SWA Student Services. Salary is competitive based on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily management of compliance operations associated with a Division I athletics department.
  • Ensure athlete’s compliance with initial and continual eligibility.
  • Assist with on-campus recruitment visits by assessing admission status and academic eligibility of prospective student athletes.
  • Monitor NCAA Eligibility Center activity for prospective student- athletes
  • Monitor Transfer Portal activity for UMES.
  • Assist with processing National Letters of Intent, Athletics Grants-In-Aid and other financial aid agreements.
  • Provide thorough NCAA and MEAC rules education to coaches, student-athletes and other UMES athletics stakeholders.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletics Director/SWA.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree. Note: Individuals with degrees outside of the US may be subject to verification. Verification of degree is the responsibility of the candidate.
  • Completed Graduate Assistantship or One + years of experience working in an athletics compliance or academic support office.
  • Knowledgeable of Academic Progress Rate (APR), Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and other NCAA reports.
  • Knowledgeable of basic compliance office functions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of NCAA Compliance Assistant (CA), TeamWorks, FrontRush or other compliance related software and PeopleSoft or other student services software (Banner, Colleague etc.)

  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I and MEAC rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
