Who you are:The Director of Philanthropy Operations is a leader with a deep knowledge of fundraising metrics, operations, and best practices. You will use your strong organizational and project management skills to successfully execute and achieve ambitious fundraising goals. You are committed to high-quality work with exceptional attention to detail and have significant experience working with CRM databases, such as Salesforce.What you’ll do:The Director of Philanthropy Operations has a fantastic opportunity to help build the fundraising program at CIEE. This position will report to the Vice President of Philanthropy, acting as a thought partner in setting the strategic vision for the department and ensuring plans are implemented and goals are met.Philanthropy operations include but are not limited to, developing processes and systems, tracking fundraising metrics, generating reports and dashboards that summarize results, and creating plans to meet ambitious fundraising goals.The position’s specific responsibilities include:

  • Working with IT and the Donor Relations and Database Manager, develop a “moves management” system in Salesforce, ensuring meaningful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans are created and that subsequent actions take place.
  • Conducting prospect research, overseeing wealth screening activities, and ensuring capacity and inclination ratings are entered into Salesforce to create donor pipelines and prospect lists.
  • Assisting with the alumni database, updating historical records through prospect research, and coordinating alumni outreach engagement efforts.
  • Developing an operational plan for annual fund activities such as direct mail/e-mail/text campaigns, as well as managing grant proposals and reports.
  • Monitoring fundraising progress and analyzing strategies and metrics.
  • Helping create a culture of philanthropy at CIEE and serving as a resource to both staff and volunteers – this will include creating resources such as proposal templates, report templates, outreach language examples, etc.
  • Making data-driven recommendations for fundraising strategies, as needed.
  • Assisting with and attending CIEE special events, as needed.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent).
  • Ten or more years of fundraising experience with a strong command of operations and the ability to adapt that knowledge to fit CIEE’s unique organizational context.
  • Minimum of three years of management experience and working with senior staff.
  • Evidence of strong cross-team collaboration skills and executing deliverables through working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in prospect research and related tools, Salesforce experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An enthusiastic commitment to international education and exchange.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative team and be a disciplined self-starter.
