What is the opportunity?

This role is a key leadership opportunity within the P&CB Financial Control team, being a key member of the overall control and governance framework for the platform. The Director, Platform Financial Control, will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial results, helping to identify and remediate emerging financial risks across the platform with a specific focus on P&L, which includes PCL and credit reporting. The role acts as the Centre of Expertise for all Financial and Regulatory reporting matters and is expected to bring a continuous improvement mindset to the role including the build out of data and analytics capabilities across the entire platform.

What will you do?

  • Key contributor to the finance control and governance framework for P&CB, specifically focused on P&L which includes being the accounting expert on PCL and credit-related reporting.
  • Lead the monthly financial and management reporting process. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of operating results. This includes the development and implementation of an effective P&L monitoring process to facilitate oversight over the month end close process.
  • Responsible for external financial disclosure for P&CB, including overall responsibility for PCL reporting, working with a number of different business partners to establish an effective workflow to ensure sufficient & appropriate evidence to support conclusions.
  • Working closely with different groups across the organization to drive change and improve control processes. This includes other Financial Control teams, Performance Management, Shared Services, Group Risk Management, product owners and other business support functions.
  • Ownership of the Finance SOX process, and act as an advisor for business partners on SOX issues.
  • Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Accounting designation – CPA, CGA, CMA
  • 10+ years accounting and finance related experience
  • Excellent accounting & finance capabilities
  • Ability to identify and execute on change management initiatives
  • Analytical, communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent conflict and issue resolution ability.

Nice-to-have

  • Excellent knowledge of RBC’s Financial Systems
  • Ability to synthesize issues and recommend solutions
