As such, UUSA is a tax-exempt organization as defined under Section 501C(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is governed by an independent, non-salaried Board of Directors.Position: Director, People and Culture /Sr. GeneralistLocation: RemoteFLSA Status: ExemptSalary: The estimated salary range for this role is $93,900 – $122,400. The midpoint for this salary range is $122,400. Actual pay will vary based on varying factors, including but not limited to relevant experience.The PositionWorking in close partnership with the Chief People and Operations Officer, The Director/ Senior Generalist will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of a wide range of human resources functions, including employee relations, UUSA’s compensation process, organizational policy and procedures development and employee benefits. This position will also be responsible for providing operational support to the Chief People and Operations Officer, including thought partnership, preparation of reports and presentations, drafting sensitive and confidential communications, and other special projects. The Director, People and Culture will be responsible for managing a staff of two (Assistant Director of Benefits, and P&C Manager/Generalist) and report directly to the Chief People and Operations Officer.UNICEF USA is committed to infusing the values of diversity, racial equity and belonging (DREB) into our work and workplace. In partnership with the Vice President, DREB, the Director of People and Culture will support UUSA’s strong commitment to this work and ensures that policies and practices across the organization are fully aligned with DREB principles and values, which will allow us to better serve the needs of children worldwide.Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):Employee Relations and Performance Management

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues for the UUSA staff.
  • With oversight from the Chief People and Operations Officer, provide support and counsel to fellow managers on appropriate methods of performance management.
  • Provide resources and recommendations to ensure resolution of employment related matters.
  • Support the Chief People and Operations Officer during employment investigations, and work with legal counsel and insurance brokers on an as-needed basis.
  • Work with managers and the Professional Learning and Leadership Development team on suggestions for individual training that will enhance growth and development for staff.
  • In partnership with managers throughout the organization, provide support and guidance to help assure that performance goals are set accurately, well-communicated, and all individual goals are appropriately integrated across the organization.
  • Prepare and analyze HR metrics for the organizational performance reviews and provide reports that support decision making in specified areas.

People and Culture Operations ManagementCompensation and salary management

  • Working in close coordination with the P&C Manager/Generalist, implement and provide oversight to the compensation, promotions and salary adjustment program and process. Ensure compensation data is current, and positions decisions (promotions, increases, etc.) are managed consistently.
  • Serve as a liaison between the People and Culture and Finance teams to ensure headcounts and budgets are accurately communicated and managed.
  • Conduct regular salary reviews and analysis on behalf of the Chief People and Operations Officer to ensure UUSA continues to provide equitable, fair, and consistent compensation.

Policy and Procedure oversight

  • Partner with the Chief People and Operations Officer and General Counsel with regular updates to UUSA’s policies, procedures, and guidelines. Evaluate the current HR processes and recommend changes according to the industry practices.
  • Distribute annual compliance documents through PolicyTech.
  • Keep abreast of industry knowledge and trends by participating in conferences and educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Utilize HR and business data to help refine People and Culture policies, procedures and programs in response to the needs of UUSA.

Change Management

  • Co-Lead the Change Agent Network group and support in taking on Change Management Processes, delegate activities, track Change Management Projects, recruit new agents, etc.
  • Partner with the Executive Office and Lead Change Agent to support prioritizing and identifying the changes that will undergo a change management process, etc.

Benefits

  • Provide oversight to the Assistant Director, Benefits and support the identification of benefit trends.
  • Work with the Assistant Director, Benefits, brokers and consultants to monitor retirement and benefit plan design options, monitor costs and issues, make recommendations for appropriate changes and enhancements to overall plan designs.
  • Remain cognizant of laws and regulations affecting plan designs.

Strategic and Operational Support to the Chief People and Operations Officer

  • Work closely with the Chief People and Operations Officer, Vice President, Employee Engagement and Development and Vice President, Diversity, Racial Equity and Belonging to effectively manage and support the strategic operations of the People and Culture Department.
  • Support the preparation for activities involving the Chief People and Operations Officer, such as Board and Committee meetings, Leadership Team meetings, All-Staff meetings, and Town Hall meetings.
  • Assess matters and determine the proper course of action and identify high risk and urgent matters that may require the Chief People and Operations Officer’s attention.
  • Provide ongoing data analysis of staff demographics, performance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Draft sensitive and confidential communications on behalf of the Chief People and Operations Officer, including announcements and presentation materials, on an as needed basis.

All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Chief People and Operations Officer.Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of HR experience in the above areas
  • Familiarity with all aspects of HR, including compensation, benefits, and employee relations.
  • Experience managing HR functions in multiple markets and locations strongly preferred.
  • Proven success at establishing/creating a positive culture in previous positions.
  • Must bring a strong diversity, racial equity, and inclusion lens with experience driving DREB priorities across recruitment, benefits and compensation, and talent management.
  • Ability to advocate for both staff and management.
  • Possess a highly proactive style of work, with a demonstrated track record of developing people-centric approaches
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now desirable
