Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?This is a key role within the Personal Banking Canada Financial Control team, ensuring accurate and complete financial reporting for Personal Banking Canada. It reports to the Senior Director, Personal Banking Canada Controller, managing a team of 2 to 4 reports with a focus on Personal Banking & Investments. The successful candidate will work to ensure an effective control environment, while providing accounting advisory and support for business partners, new products and new initiatives. This is a high-impact role, requiring a combination of strong accounting & control expertise, people management skills and the ability to impact & influence business partners.What will you do?
- Overall responsibility for accurate and complete financial information for Personal Banking & Investments – including chequing and deposits accounts, and personal investment products such as Mutual funds and GICs.
- A key focus of the role is working with business partners to assess risks, ensure new products and transactions are appropriately accounted for and execute on their implementation.
- Manage multiple stakeholders on a day to day basis, across finance & head office, shared services & operations, internal & external audit and product owners and business
- Provide meaningful analysis of the financial results on a monthly and quarterly basis and responsible for submission of financial results – including note disclosures, MD&A and regulatory reporting
- Maintain, report and enhance the monthly review program to ensure financial controls are in place and the appropriate reconciliations are completed
- Act as the centre of expertise for all control, financial and regulatory reporting matters in relevant business areas, while maintaining technical accounting knowledge and SOX compliance
- Lead projects and act as a change agent, recommending improvements to internal processes and enhancing team efficiency
- Lead and develop a team of 2 to 4 professionals
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- Accounting designation – CPA, CGA, CMA
- 10+ years accounting and finance related experience
- Excellent accounting & finance capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to synthesize complex issues and recommend solutions
Nice-to-have
- Excellent knowledge of RBC’s Financial Systems
- Excellent conflict and issue resolution ability
- Experience managing change and projects.
