Position Summary:

This team will manage the event and tour promotion and will specifically focus on the project management and day-to-day execution of major events that will take place for Copa America 2024. Soccer United Marketing’s (SUM) current event portfolio includes the Mexican National Team U.S. Tour, Concacaf Gold Cup, Concacaf Nations League Finals, Leagues Cup, and Campeones Cup and is expected to grow in the coming year(s).

Th Director, Project Management will focus on coordinating efforts between SUM and the other entities involved in executing Copa America 2024, which will take place across the United States from mid-June through mid-July 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day management of SUM’s efforts to operationalize new major event platforms, including leading regular event meetings & development of KPIs & timelines.
  • Work successfully with partners to lead the growth and monetization of ticketing and ancillary event day revenues (i.e. premium hospitality and other experiences).
  • Support the development of event touring plans, ticket pricing and strategy, & development of hospitality platforms to drive incremental revenue.
  • Oversee the development of all property-related planning documents, providing updates to executive management and the event planning committee on timelines.
  • Source, prepare, and distribute relevant, real-time reports to senior management and key stakeholders and report on key success metrics.
  • Lead the organization of information, assets, and data, as well as the sharing of that work product with internal and external partners.
  • Establish and build relationships with clients and relevant industry stakeholders, identifying new value, opportunities, and solutions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8+ years of proven experience in sports, marketing & event promotion, operations, and/or project management

Required Skills:

  • Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally.
  • Outstanding PowerPoint skills with a mastery of visual design principles.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to work across time zones and cultures.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in interpreting research & past results
  • Ability to negotiate sensitive matters and work collaboratively to identify solutions.
  • Commitment to building positive team environments and demonstrated experience in leadership situations.
  • Outstanding PowerPoint and presentation-building skills, with an understanding of visual design principles.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Superior organization, project management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel for match day from mid-June through mid-July 2024 as required.

Desired Skills:

  • Highly desired: Fluency in English and Spanish (business proficiency; both written and oral)
  • Sports marketing or event touring promotion experience
  • Knowledge of the sport of soccer and soccer ecosystem
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Compensation:

Base Salary $110,000 – $125,000 USD.
