In this role, you will:

  • Owns the overall framework, processes, and risk management activities under which the Cloud Acceleration Program financials are planned, forecasted, and reported leveraging FinOps methodology pertaining to FP&A of Cloud utilization across the enterprise in collaboration with DevOps teams.
  • Oversee establishing a financial management structure to support the migration of infrastructure to the Public Cloud environments, including implementing the required controls around funding, credit application and business casing to ensure compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Supports the VP, Cloud Transformation in aligning the strategic planning, related communication and change management activities with the Operating Committee, Cloud Operating Board and EVP level strategies.
  • Drive active business engagement, building strong relationships with Business Partners, cross functional and internal teams to champion change and align Cloud Acceleration Program across the portfolio. Collaborates closely with partner groups to optimize cross group operating model.
  • Partner on the optimization, oversight, governance, and controls for Cloud Acceleration Program, including monthly, quarterly, and annual planning alignment.
  • Develop reporting to align to the financial management requirements of a Public Cloud centric infrastructure, including visibility into Application-level costs, migration impacts and overall Infrastructure spend and oversight benefits realization derived from the migration/decommissioning of applications.
  • Ensure expense management discipline and alignment to Bank expense policies and promote initiatives for optimization leveraging tools e.g., Apptio One, Cloudability.
  • Instills financial governance through implementing best practices, making audit recommendations, and communicating applicable financial policies and accounting guidelines to relevant parties.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experience within a large organization
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field with either professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA) or graduate degree (e.g., MBA)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of financial and management reporting principles as applied to Cloud implementation, thorough understanding of the business planning process, dealing with accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.
  • FinOps Practitioner Certification is an asset.
  • Experience managing Cloud tools like Turbonomic, Cloudability or other industry systems is an asset.
