  • Owns the overall framework, processes, and risk management activities under which All Bank Technology Spend reporting and insight is generated.
  • Leads the recurring technology benchmarking process, working with external third party experts, including Rubin Worldwide to track key financial metrics over the medium to long term driving sustainable cost efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversees establishing a financial management structure to support monthly reporting of All Bank Technology Spend including key cost categories, KPIs and optimization opportunities.
  • Leverages findings to develop an optimization roadmap for All Bank Technology Spend and drive delivery and measurement of improvements over time.
  • Supports the VP, Technology Finance in aligning the strategic planning, related communication and change management activities with the Operating Committee, BL Stakeholders and Technology Leadership
  • Drive active business engagement, building strong relationships with Business Partners, cross functional and internal teams to champion change and align All Bank Technology Spend across the portfolio. Works closely with partner groups to optimize cross group operating model.
  • Partner on the optimization, oversight, governance, and controls for All Bank Technology Spend, including annual planning alignment to ensure technology costs are planned and managed on a full end-to-end basis supporting cross-functional prioritization, maintaining software currency and hygiene.
  • Instills financial governance through implementing best practices, making audit recommendations, and communicating applicable financial policies and accounting guidelines to relevant parties.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience within a large organization
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field with either professional designation (e.g. CPA, CFA) or graduate degree (e.g. MBA)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of financial and management reporting principles as applied to technology operations, thorough understanding of the business planning process, dealing with accounting systems, budgets and internal controls
