The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, and grow and invest actively throughout North America, Latin America, and key financial centers around the world.

How You’ll Succeed

The Director, Trading Credit position is responsible for managing the trading credit relationships of a portfolio of Bank and Non-Bank Financial Institutions, many of which represent high profile trading relationships for the Bank. Industry segments include banks, MDBs/supranationals, hedge funds, broker dealers, high frequency trading entities, pension funds, regulated/unregulated funds and insurance companies.

Client Relationships – Act as the Corporate Banking relationship manager for Bank and Non-Bank Financial accounts, and build relationships with clients in order to understand their trading requirements and/or anticipate future needs for CIBC Capital Markets products and services;

Risk Mitigation – Work with trading floor businesses and other internal partners (Legal, Risk) to mitigate credit risks inherent in derivatives and other trading floor business products. Assist in the ongoing monitoring of credit quality and global credit exposure of the portfolio by remaining current with counterparties’ financial condition, industry and economic trends;

Credit Expertise – Provide sound, timely, and well-communicated recommendations for credit facilities supported by a thorough analysis and well-executed interpretation of relevant financial, industry, business, and market information. Conduct counterparty credit due diligence and manage credit exposure;

Leadership – Coach and provide oversight to Associates/Analysts.

Who You Are

You are goal oriented. Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility within short time frames. Success to you is helping solve and execute on the complex financial and strategic needs of our clients.

You possess relevant industry experience. Minimum 6 years of related experience; MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation required.

You can demonstrate knowledge of derivatives and other trading floor products. Ability to understand existing and potential clients’ needs sufficient to recommend trading credit structures given the state of credit markets and the credit quality assessment of the client. Well-developed knowledge of corporate credit. Experience in preparing and analyzing complex credit applications/proposals. Excellent understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.

You’re an effective communicator. Excellent presentation skills evidenced by ability to be a focused, confident and persuasive presenter. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues. Good relationship building capabilities for internal and external audiences.

You can demonstrate technical knowledge of multiple software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. You use your detail-orientation to ensure analysis and advice is accurate and thorough.

Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, and internal and/or external business partners. Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation and proven ability to exercise strong independent judgment when making business decisions and/or representing CIBC Capital Markets.
