This individual will be responsible for the successful delivery of our Disability Management Program. Focusing on the health and wellbeing of employees, this position will rely on deep expertise and building strong partnerships to oversee the third-parties handling disability-related claims and coordinating the internal administration of all short-term and long term disability leaves. . Keep reading!As the subject matter expert, the position will collaborate and advise on complex disability matters, and will have a deep understanding of standard operating procedures of disability case management, regulatory and legal obligations, and disability management standard methodologies.Areas of focusLead all aspects of the administration of disability management services provided by the benefits carriers, ensuring expectations are met and policies and processes are applied as per contractual agreements, internal processes and industry standards. .Act as liaison between the involved parties to ensure transparent communication while always ensuring privacy and confidentiality.Collaborate and act as a main resource for disability-related queriesAssess the effectiveness and provide recommendations to evolve Short-Term and Long-Term Disability programs, finding administrative efficiencies while improving employee outcomes.Work with benefit consultants, disability carriers and internal resources to develop meaningful employee and leader communications, education and training about leave of absence programs at CWBCoordinate and facilitate return to work plans for employees returning from leave.Liaise with employees, leaders, HR Business Partners, Employee Relations and other partners to advise on workplace accommodationsProduce reporting that highlights the effectiveness of CWB’s disability management program and make recommendations for improvementsParticipate in regular disability management program governance activities, including reviews of claims activity with the disability carriers, and translate those results to insights applied to process improvement or identifying gaps, themes or trends either internally or with third parties.Successful incumbentEducation & ExperienceUniversity degree or diploma in Disability Management, Human Resources, health sciences or another related fieldBenefits and/or Disability Management Certificate/Designation (CEBS, CDMP) would be an asset.Five (5) years experience running disability plans as a disability specialist, inclusive of adjudicating and leading claims in a vendor/carrier or workers compensation environment, and/or leading disability and absence programs in an employer/plan sponsor settingEmployee Relations experience is an assetKnowledge and SkillsSolid understanding of current applicable legislation related to leaves, disability, duty to accommodate and taxation as they pertain to benefits as well as general payroll knowledgeSolid understanding of privacy legislation, specifically personal health information requirements (PIPEDA)Strong self-management skills, with a desire to build a center of excellence in disability management.Excellent written and verbal communications skillsAbility to maintain a confidentialityConfident in having sometimes difficult and critical conversations related to disability with employees, leaders, disability carrierStrong and creative problem solving skills for solutioning optimal outcomes with internal collaborators and external disability partnersUpbeat and outgoing personality coupled with outstanding interpersonal and client engagement abilities, involving different teams and individuals across all levels of an organizationWillingness to take initiative as a great teammateSophisticated knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel and Power Point)Familiarity with disability management programsAbility to lead results and be comfortable with high level of self-accountability and autonomyWhy work with us?Your success is our obsession!
