Job description

– Informal network of diversity and inclusion practitioners and advocates developed;
– Thematic meetings on gender parity, disability inclusion and other D&I topics organized as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities
The individual contractor will support the implementation of Secretariat-wide frameworks on United Nations Values and Behaviours, Anti-Racism, Geographical and Regional Diversity, Mental Health, Disability Inclusion, Gender Parity and LGBTQI+ Inclusion to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace in DPPA-DPO through the following tasks:
- Support the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan on anti-racism, including by strengthening data analysis.
- Support LGBTQI+ inclusion through awareness raising and staff engagement initiatives;
- Support implementation of up to two “Get to Know” Events highlighting diverse and inclusive leaders across DPPA-DPO;
- Deliver training to staff on a victim-centered approach to sexual harassment using existing training materials;
- Develop diversity and inclusion session for staff induction, building on existing materials;
- Support data analysis for monitoring and reporting as needed;
- Build a network of diversity and inclusion practitioners and advocates among DPPA-DPO staff;
- Support development of communication products and guidance materials on diversity and inclusion as needed;
- Provide technical advice on strategies and initiatives in support of D&I;
- Support thematic meetings on disability inclusion;
- Support and/or organize other training and awareness-raising initiatives on diversity and inclusion as needed.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in gender studies, social sciences, programme management, business administration, human resources management, law or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of quilifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advance university degree. A certification or specialized training related to diversity and inclusion is an advantage.
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in at least two of the following areas: gender parity, anti-racism, disability inclusion, LGBTQI+ inclusion, geographical diversity is required.
Experience organizing and facilitating events, workshops and/or trainings on diversity and inclusion is required.
Experience with data analysis, including the administration of surveys, is desirable.
Experience working for an international or regional organization is desirable.
Experience working on peace and security issues or in a post-conflict context is desirable.
A certification or specialized training related to diversity and inclusion is an advantage.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
