Job description

Electrical EngineerWe are looking for an Electrical Engineer for a contract role in County Clare. The role is full-time and offers an initial duration until the end of February 2026Key Responsibilities

  • Perform role of lead electrical engineer and be responsible for the electrical engineering works on site for the successful delivery of the emergency generation projects.
  • Manage Site teams (as required), and liaison with Station Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) teams.
  • Liaise with Control & Instrumentation, Mechanical and Civil design teams to ensure delivery co-ordination on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Ensure that electrical systems are installed, tested, and operated safely and efficiently in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Co-ordinate electrical testing and commissioning activities on Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) systems and provide advice on testing and commissioning procedures and documentation.
  • Support the management of projects from installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Support the team of electrical engineers delivering engineering design and support services for generating technologies for the client.
  • Support for the Safety Systems at site and apply a high level of safety standards in every aspect of the work.
  • Support the development of project programmes and budgets.
  • Support the Project and Site Manager by taking direct responsibility of managing key elements of the projects.
  • Actively support the oversight of contracts with contractors’ and management of claims.
  • Day to day supervision and point of contact with contractors and their works. Review of key ITP protocol sheets
  • Where required, work with and support the station Management and Maintenance Teams during the course of the project. • Undertake regular safety, environment and quality audits during the construction and commissioning phases
  • Reporting on progress against schedule and attendance at various project meetings as deemed appropriate by the Project Manager and / or the Site Manager.
  • Produce comprehensive and accurate progress reports as defined by management.
  • Support the management of project interfaces such as procurement and design.
  • Participate in onsite meetings with contractors to support the project works and achieve the best outcome for the client
  • Work with the Project Manager to control costs for assigned contracts.
  • Development of technical specifications for work scopes on Electrical plant and equipment and involvement in various stages of tendering and procurement process
  • Use of plant modification process for all Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) plant modifications. Ensure all E&I procedures and drawings are updated.
  • Use the Contractor Management (CM) process to manage assigned contracts including use of CM tools to track contract progress and holding of Kick-Off, Progress, Close-Out meetings, etc.
  • Attendance at Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), workshop visits, if required.
  • Creation of Close-Out Reports • Review of commissioning procedures and ensure implementation.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record of significant experience in the power generation industry.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience is required. Design, and Construction or Commissioning experience, is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment utilised in power plant projects, preferably including LV and MV
