The Electrical Systems Specialist is responsible for the operation and maintaining of assigned Electrical Systems at CRL facilities and Deep River buildings. He/She ensures safe, reliable, compliant and efficient operation of the assigned systems to meet the expectations of their customers.
What will you be doing !
- Provides oversite of the day to day operation of electrical systems. Responds to emergent conditions on assigned systems and provides oversight and direction to ensure repairs are completed in compliance to applicable codes and standards and in a safe and efficient manner.
- When applicable, prepares, reviews, and approves internal work packages or scopes of work (SOW) for execution by external contractors. Provides both project management and portfolio management functions across assigned systems. Works closely Suppliers, Procurement and Construction Supervisors to ensure repairs and projects are delivered successfully and providing value to stakeholders.
- Provides oversight to the development of asset management plans and preventive maintenance plans by CRL on assigned systems. Ensures plans are right sized and providing value to stakeholders.
- When applicable, prepares Engineering Change Control (RREC, IEER) to support timely and efficient repairs and modifications to assigned systems.
- Continuously assesses the condition of assigned electrical systems to ensure work is prioritized and delivering value to stakeholders. Provides oversight of system shutdowns to ensure essential work is prioritized, scheduled and completed by Maintenance or external contractors.
- Interacts with customers, co-workers and management to clearly communicate the status of the plant and requirements for its operation, maintenance and strategic replacement.
- Provides oversight and assistance to other organizations when required.
- Performs the responsibility of Area Owner under CRL’s Integrated Work Control (IWC) for assigned systems.
What we are looking for:
-Graduation from an institute of technology with a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in maintenance or, High School
Diploma and relevant trade certificates on site electrical services systems. Installation and day-to-day operation of electrical systems such as:
generators, transformers, power distribution centers (PDCs), Motor Control Centers (MCCs), fire systems, pole line and below ground distribution,
programmable logic controllers (PLCs), building automation systems (BASs), protection and control relaying and switch yards;
-Supervision of field work execution with internal and external trades;
-CRL’s internal process to contracting work to external service providers;
-Ability to work with unionized and non-unionized staff, jurisdictional representatives;
-CRL internal maintenance processes (planning, review, approval);
– CRL Integrated Work Control (IWC);
-CRL’s internal Engineering Change Control (ECC, RREC, IEER) process;
-Review & comment of engineered drawings at CRL.
-Project Management (PMI);
Job/Industry Specific Knowledge
- N286-05 and its applicability to CRL;
- CSA-Z462 Electrical Safety & Arc Flash;
- Canadian / Ontario Electrical Code and National Building Code
- Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.
Working Conditions :
· Physical and Sensory Demands
- Visual concentration is required for reviewing reports, analyzing information, developing budgets etc.
Sufficient physical mobility is required to periodically access building electrical rooms, excavations at construction sites and roof-tops.
· Working Environment
- Work will consist of 50% field work and 50% at a desk using typical office equipment (telephone, computer, etc).
