With a focus on fostering Employee Engagement (EE), creating a superior environment and pride within Technology & Operations Canada. The incumbent assist with the identification, development and execution of EE programs to support and enhance the employee experience. The Employee Engagement Specialist leads activities promoting the six engagement pillars: Performance Development, Recognition, Employee Benefits, Inclusion & Education, Community Involvement, Social Events and Team Building.As a member of the Operations team the incumbent is responsible for contributing to the overall success of the team by providing support to our Global Operations partners while adhering to Bank security and operational procedures and policies.Is this role right for you? In this role you will: * Supports the development and execution of EE programs and events by:

  • Contributing to the overall EE strategy by generating ideas based on research and providing insights to ensure a consistent employee experience across Tech & Ops
  • Facilitating execution of EE programs / events such as: Go Learn Sessions, Employee Engagement activities, Performance Development, Onboarding activities, Diversity & Inclusion events, etc.
  • Assist the Sr. / Manager, EE to evaluate the effectiveness of EE activities (e.g. learning materials, training sessions, delivery strategies) by collecting data to examine EE metrics and continuously improve techniques, delivery, outcomes and strengthen EE programming
  • Assisting with the identification, development, implementation and maintenance of communications platforms with a specific focus on channels that are fundamental to and drive Employee Engagement across Canada such as Viva Scotia, Viva Engage and SharePoint
  • Organizing and facilitating the distribution of promotional materials for events such as giveaways and incentives. As well as supports the distribution of messaging for events
  • Designs and creates content/material for Viva Scotia, Viva Engage, relating to the EE programs and events
  • Manage, provide guidance and govern Action Teams – Social & Connection, Diversity & Inclusion and Community & Awareness to drive idea generation and assist in program implementation, while ensuring alignment to overall EE strategy. Connecting with the Executive Leader Sponsors on a regular bases to obtain buy in and support amplify key initiatives
  • Coordinating the set up and take down of the physical space assigned to each event
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen partner relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge by:
  • Partnering with the Corporate Communications team to assist in executing corporate events and supporting corporate initiatives
  • Develops presentations, communications, reporting and other tasks pertaining to key events /meetings. Preparation and delivery of material to the Canadian Director monthly meetings
  • Partner with key strategic partners to design, develop and deliver on events. Including Global Development, Communications and Business Banking Teams.
  • Supporting budget maintenance and monitoring including reconciliation, invoices, monthly and annual returns
  • Leads the New Hire Orientation sessions for Campuses in Montreal, Ottawa, Scarborough, Stratford and Tahoe.
  • Assisting Campus Operations in the administrative support of teams in the campus as required
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Scotiabank Code of Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:Educational Requirements:

  • 1-3 years’ work experience in employee engagement, communications, relationship managmenet, or related field, preferably with a financial services institution or financial services exposure
  • Strong Relationship Management skills and ability to influence teams that do not report directly.
  • Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication skills: written, oral and presentation
  • Very strong organization skills and ability to work in a fast paced enviroment
  • High degree of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills to be able to pivot quickly
  • Ability to take initative and work independently and within a collaborative team enviroment.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment and / or from a home office; Some work required outside of regular business hours to support events and activities. Limited travel domestically may be required.
