The Energy Engineer II role is multifaceted tasks include a wide range of technical, programmatic, planning, analytic, and procurement services in support of new and ongoing Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC) and Utility Energy Service Contracts (UESC) including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and advanced grid systems.
Responsibilities:
- Reviewing, modeling, and analyzing sustainable and renewable energy projects.
- Conducting energy, environmental, and economic benefits analysis of sustainable energy technologies and projects.
- Collecting and analyzing project and program information and entering & managing data in spreadsheets and models.
- Developing targeted communications (white papers, fact sheets, research summaries, briefings, technical analyses, data analysis presentations).
- Engaging in client meetings relevant to assigned work scope.
- Staying current on industry developments in relevant technologies and business practices.
- Developing detailed models of photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems to determine optimal sizing, renewable energy production, financial viability, emissions impacts, and infrastructure implications.
- Providing support to all 5 phases of existing and new ESPC/UESC projects.
- Conducting inspection of facilities to evaluate the status of ongoing energy and sustainability projects and identify and analyzing further opportunities for energy efficiency and/or onsite generation and energy storage.
- Monitoring and reporting on photovoltaic system production, performance, faults, and failures.
- Conducting utility bill analysis to inform the client of rate change implications, energy/cost savings.
Qualifications:
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a background investigation
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university
- 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a program or project management role involving energy, construction, acquisitions, and/or strategic decision-making
- Professional writing and verbal skills
- Proficiency with software tools for research, analysis, reporting, communications, and collaboration
- Certified Energy Manager, or in progress toward certification
