Global Programs for Research & Training (Global Programs) is an international non-governmental organization in Kenya. Registered in 2014, Global Programs is a wholly owned and controlled affiliate of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Global Programs facilitates the expanded presence and operations for researchers from UCSF and its affiliates, working in collaboration with key partners including the Ministry of Health, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), donors and other local and international partners to implement health programs across Kenya.

Global Programs seeks to recruit an Epidemiologist.

Reporting to the Director Strategic Information, the Epidemiologist will have strong scientific writing and communication skills to facilitate and lead dissemination of epidemiological and HIV surveillance activities. The Epidemiologist will translate complex public health data into clear scientific communication products for various levels of audience including the Ministry of Health and partners and the peer broader scientific community.

The key responsibilities of the Epidemiologist will include:

  • Provide leadership and oversight on assigned HIV surveillance projects.

  • Facilitate and lead dissemination of surveillance data through preparation of presentations, reports and scientific manuscripts.

  • Maintain close collaboration with the Ministry of Health, CDC-Kenya and other partner agencies.

  • Develop and review analysis plans, interpret findings, and document results in written form.

  • Offer feedback and guidance to the statistical team on data analysis and outputs.

  • Design and support implementation plans for assigned projects.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD degree in epidemiology or related field.

  • At least 8 years of experience in epidemiology, public health, surveillance or related field.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of disease surveillance and epidemiology concepts.

  • Proven track record in scientific writing, with a minimum of three peer-reviewed publications as a lead or second author and contributions to technical reports.

This position requires a one-year commitment with an effort level of 50-100% and includes potential for extension subject to funding availability.
