JOB VACANCIESINTERNAL & EXTERNALEvening Lecturer – Furniture Restoring and Upcycling: UpholsteryFixed Term until 3rd June 2025Part Time: 3 hours of TeachingWorking pattern: Must be available Tuesday evenings.Course duration: 28th January 2025 until 3rd June (16 weeks) 6pm-9pmThis will continue to be a temporary contract based on the course recruitment being met.Salary: £40,170 – £48,357 per annum, pro rata (Candidates with TQFE will commence on £46,310 per annum).You will deliver this leisure class focusing on skills development, wellbeing, and building a creative community of like-minded individuals. An average of 3 students progresses on to our full-time Furniture Courses in Furniture Craftsmanship with Design and Furniture Restoration with Sustainable Practice after taking part in the leisure class.You will be teaching students from beginners to intermediate level.You will be required to teach individuals who will be asked to supply a chair or stool to restore using a mixture of contemporary and traditional techniques. You will be required to focus on hand and machine sewing skills alongside the measuring, cutting and fixing of upholstery covers.This practical based course is delivered in the cabinet workshop, you will be required to have a comprehensive knowledge in the safe use of a modern well-equipped workshop including up to date Health and Safety practices.You will possess a relevant level qualification along with recent and relevant vocational experience in modern and traditional upholstery techniques and furniture making.A TQFE (or equivalent) and previous teaching experience is desirable.This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Scotland’s top colleges with access to excellent CPD opportunities within a motivated skilled workforce.
