Position Summary

The UNC Department of OB-GYN is seeking a temporary Executive Director of Western NC ACURE4Moms Doulas. The Executive Director will lead the recruiting, training, management, and monitoring of the ACURE4Moms study community-based doulas in the Western part of NC. This role includes the supervision of 20 community-based doulas in Western NC, as well as the Project Manager for the Western NC doulas. They will assist with obtaining external funding to help pay for community-based doulas support provided by the Project. They will manage the ~$1,000,000 budget allocated to the Western NC doulas. They will present ACURE4Moms study findings at local and national conferences. They will contribute to funding priorities and guidelines related to community-based doula support and insurance reimbursement and confer with researchers/granting agencies concerning their needs. They will assist with ensuring that ACURE4Moms doula referrals that are sent from Western NC study practices are processed and that eligible and interested patients are matched with a study doula. They will also act as a Community Doula MHEET Trainer for Western NC practices and present study findings and educational trainings to the practices. The position will assist with planning the ACURE4Moms Stakeholder Advisory Board meeting and preparation of meeting documents and deliverables. They will facilitate discussions with the research team, Stakeholder Advisory Board, and other groups to gather input on communication needs. And the position will help design and implement an integrated marketing and communications strategy for ACURE4Moms.

At minimum, they will attend:
1) Weekly ACURE4Moms Practice Engagement meetings
2) Monthly ACURE4Moms Doula Engagement meetings
3) Monthly ACURE4Moms All-Staff meetings
4) Monthly ACURE4Moms MHEET Trainers meetings
5) Quarterly ACURE4Moms STABLE meetings
6) Meetings and Trainings with the ACURE4Moms Western NC doulas
7) Other meetings for the ACURE4Moms study as needed

For meetings and MHEET sessions that are held in-person, they will be expected to travel to and from these meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

– This position must be held by a certified Community-Based Doula who has had experience acting as the Executive Director of a non-profit Community-Based Doula organization based in NC and supervising multiple community-based doulas.

– They must also be a Co-Investigator of the ACURE4Moms study and be familiar with its design and implementation, including the recruitment of study practices and doulas, the referral process from study practices to study doulas, and the electronic medical record system (Maternity Neighborhood) that will be used to collect information on patients who are matched with study doulas.

– They must have experience with obtaining and managing external funding through large projects/grants totaling more than $1,000,000, whose findings contribute to funding priorities and guidelines for community-based doula work.

– They must have previously presented ACURE4Moms study findings at research conferences.

– They must have experience with conferring with researchers and granting agencies concerning research methods and needs.
