The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Yangon, Myanmar.
As Expert Program Support and Partner Advisory, you will directly support the successful implementation and development of Welthungerhilfe’s (WHH) programs and projects in Myanmar and Cambodia. In your role, you will provide professional support and advice to the project team and local partner organizations in the implementation of WHH-funded (partner-led) projects, ensuring alignment with content, timeline and budget guidelines to achieve the defined project goals.
Your responsibilities
- Conceptualize and elaborate a partner approach for WHH Myanmar/Cambodia in close cooperation with the Head of Programs
- Act as a focal person and manage partnerships with WHH Civil Society Partners in Myanmar and Cambodia
- Identify potential future partners including civil society, private sector and academia to further develop and maintain a partner pool in Myanmar
- Support the development of project proposals and ensure timely submission of reports and other relevant project documents for review and finalization in accordance with established deadlines
- Strengthen the WHH compliance framework with a focus on the application of standards and tools for quality management in project management and partner cooperation, such as partner assessment tools, design and implementation of capacity development plans etc.
- Support partners to be compliant with donor and internal regulations across various domains, including finance, procurement, HR, and operations
- Promote, improve and reinforce accountability standards and practices in accordance with WHH’s Code of Conduct and Core Humanitarian Standards
- Design and create online and offline communication products for the program in coordination with the Head of Programs
- Support the program team in organizing and facilitating various events and workshops, e.g. review and learning processes, planning workshops etc.
- Represent WHH vis-a-vis civil society and participate in relevant events, forums and platforms
Your profile
- At least 1-2 years of professional experience working in the development and/or humanitarian sector in Asia
- Professional experience working in the (I)NGO sector is preferred
- International donor experience would be an asset
- Strong emphatic communication skills – “People person”
- Intercultural competence for effectively working in diverse cultural settings
- Ability to work independently with a defined scope for action and decision making
- Readiness to receive necessary vaccinations for working in Welthungerhilfe’s program countries
- Excellent spoken and written English; German and/or Myanmar language skills would be an asset
