Extended Scope practitioner/ Trainee Consultant Sonographer Band 8A/8B – dependent upon experience/qualification 37.5 hours – PermanentAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a an experienced Sonographer to join our team whilst working towards becoming a Consultant Sonographer.The successful candidate will already have an excellent knowledge base through their experience and qualification, or have started their journey to complete level 7 qualification.There is an opportunity for flexible working, with options for evening and weekend work .Main duties of the jobTo act as an autonomous ultrasound practitioner performing and reporting a broad range ofultrasound examinations from multiple patient pathways, whilst working towards Consultant Sonographer status. To assist the Consultant Radiographer with the day to day running of the department. To provide training and supervision for relevant qualified staff groups and students deployed to the ultrasound department.   • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or DCR
  • Hold a recognised Ultrasound qualification to a minimum level of Post Graduate /Certificate Diploma awarded by an Consortium for Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE) approved higher educational provider.
  • Evidence of higher level study at Masters Level, or working towards.
  • Specialist training and relevant supporting qualification in specialised field of practice (Head and Neck or MSK)
  • DQASS Accreditation
  • HCPC Registered
  • Have an up to date professional development portfolio
  • Competent in undertaking US guided interventions, or able to undertake Masters level learning

Desirable

  • Membership of Public Voluntary Sonographer Register SoR.
  • Professional Membership

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEEssential

  • Have an up to date professional development portfolio
  • Extensive experience as an advanced practitioner
  • Experience at writing reports
  • Experience in counselling, breaking bad news
  • Familiar with Radiology IT systems
  • General administrative duties within an ultrasound environment
  • Demonstrate experience of multi-disciplinary team working and evidence of supporting service developments

  • Experience in Audit and Quality
  • Cranial Ultrasound in Neonates
  • 3D Scanning in Gynaecology Imaging
  • Demonstrate specialist experience in a specific field of medical ultrasound
