This position is located within Engineering Section in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo with duty station, Beni. The Facilities Management Assistant will report to the Head of Facilities Management Unit, Beni FO.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, working within the framework of the Engineering Section/Unit, the Facilities Management Assistant will be responsible of the following duties: 1. Collects and compiles information, makes simple cost calculations, and translates statistical data into graphs; 2. Generates appropriate work orders and blueprints and dispatches them to the appropriate trade shops to proceed with alteration work for the maintenance of gardens, outer areas, and sanitation; 3. Follows up on pending requisitions and requests for additional work and priority services; 4. Secures signatures of authorized personnel for approval of projects, requisitions, invoices, etc.; 5. Maintains and monitors a filing system for requisitions, original construction documents, architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings; 6. Maintains and controls any request for copies of architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical plans; 7. Catalogues drawings, sketches, and construction documents in manual and electronic format; 8. Takes dictation and types requests for supplies and contractual services and utility projections correspondence; 9. Controls stock of office supplies of the section; 10. Control stock of construction materials assigned to the section in this location; 11. Performs other duties as required

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job – Specific Qualification

A valid driven license is required.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, building management, engineering, architecture, administrative services, or related area is required. Experience in UN peacekeeping or other field operations is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and French, (both oral and written) is required.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise or competency-based interview or both.
