Since 2019, UNICEF has a dedicated response for children in Pacaraima, liaising with the local network and organizations part of the Operação Acolhida to create referral pathways and SOPs. With activities in all the shelters as well as spontaneous occupations, UNICEF outpost in the border expanded to cover all programmatic areas, guarantying the implementation of activities in Child Protection, Water Sanitation and Health/Nutrition and Education.

How can you make a difference?

Under the general guidance of the Chief Field Office in Boa Vista, the Field Coordinator Officer will provide support and overall coordination of UNICEF programmatic response in Pacaraima. S/he has daily contacts with staff in the various field offices and with the Boa Vista unit. S/he also has close liaison with a range of local civilian and military authorities and counterparts in NGOs and UN agencies to discuss matters of common interest.

 

The Key functions and accountabilities 

The Field Coordinator Officer will have the following key functions:

  1. Situation Analysis and Reporting.
  2. Inter-agency coordination and representation.
  3. Sub-sector and working groups strategy development.
  4. Project monitoring and technical support.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Law, International Relations, Social Work, Anthropology, Communication, or another relevant field.
  • Master’s degree in psychology, Law, International Relations, Social Work, Anthropology, Communication, or another relevant field is an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with humanitarian or emergency response with field experience and background and familiarity with international human rights.
  • Experience in articulating with state and municipal governments and civil society organizations is needed.
  • Solid knowledge of program management is required.
  • Ability to facilitate interagency processes is needed.
  • Experience with UN and International Organization is desirable.
  • Experience working with indigenous population is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Database literacy will be an asset. 

Language Requirements

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese.
  • Knowledge of Spanish will be considered an asset.
