  • Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution and available from May to August.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada by way of Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or a valid work permit.
  • If you are selected for a role considered safety-sensitive, you will be required to successfully complete a Medical and/or Alcohol and drug test.

Students are also required to submit a cover letter and recent transcripts. The cover letter will address the following questions:

A positive attitude, adaptability, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks are essential for success in this role.This role is based out of the Calgary Brookfield office on a full-time, Monday to Friday schedule.The TeamThe Finance and Accounting team at SECURE Energy is a dynamic, collaborative group focused on driving financial accuracy and process improvements within the Midstream division. This team offers an engaging environment where members are encouraged to develop their skills, contribute to impactful projects, and gain a deep understanding of finance within a supportive and fast-paced setting.A Day in The LifeThe responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Transaction Recording and Reconciliation: Provide support with daily accounting activities, including recording bank transactions, prepaid expenses, and accruals to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Month-End Close: Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Profit and Loss Analysis: Conduct variance reviews of monthly operational results, analyzing performance against forecasts to provide insights for decision-making.
  • Accounts Receivable: Ensure timely entry of customer cheques and EFT payments, and prepare journal entries to support bank reconciliation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, recommending improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments to develop a comprehensive understanding of business operations, enhancing insight into business processes and supporting finance-related initiatives.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the finance team’s objectives.

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field, ideally in the second or third year of study.
  • Excel Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an asset.
  • Software Skills: Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 is an asset.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Multitasking: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaboration: Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to work
  • Professionalism: Demonstrates responsibility, ethical conduct, and a positive image.
