Job description

We are recruiting to several posts; (currently 1 x permanent and 1 x 12 month maternity cover), with the successful candidates assigned to work as part of a team in a professional, modern and forward-facing Finance department. The post-holder will provide financial accounting services to assist the University in achieving its ambitious Corporate Plan objectives.Duties may include sales invoicing and production of claims for funding, contributing to the year end financial statement preparation and audit, reconciling control accounts, processing journals and other financial transactions, customs clearance support, and VAT accounting and assisting with returns.About the person:The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), to include English Language and Mathematics or NVQ Level 2 Accounting or equivalent finance-related subject,
  • Relevant work experience, to include a minimum of 18 months’ relevant finance work experience to include at least three of the following:
  • Reconciliation of bank and control accounts.
  • Book-keeping or Management / Financial accounting.
  • Experience using complex financial systems.
  • Intermediate Excel experience to include design, manipulation, the use of formulae & pivot tables.
  • Experience and up to date knowledge of a wide range of IT systems, including MS Word, and Outlook or equivalent.
