We are currently seeking a Finance Associate who will play a vital role in supporting our organization’s financial operations as we continue to grow and expand our impact in the carbon removal field. This role will help drive efficient financial processes and support our broader organizational goals.The Finance Associate will work closely with our Director of Finance and Director of Development to ensure smooth financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. This person will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting day-to-day financial operations with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.This role requires someone who is organized, flexible, and detail-oriented while also bringing a people-first approach to their work. While we are a partially remote organization, this position requires candidates in the DC Metro area due to specific banking needs. The Finance Associate can choose to work from home up to four days per week but will need to visit the headquarters weekly to manage essential tasks such as checking mail.This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, strategic, and ready to contribute to a collaborative and innovative environment.   • Front of house administration: This role is first in line handling email and correspondence and requests to the overall finance team.
  • Mail and correspondence: Manages multiple mailboxes, including virtual- distributes and escalates important mail, scans images as needed and files digital images in appropriate folders.
  • Receivables and donation processing: Reviews accounts, processes transactions, and records them daily in the accounting system and Salesforce; and files batch information in the appropriate folders.
  • Donor and receivables support: responds to requests from donors or individuals issuing payments to the organization.
  • Banking: prepares physical deposit batches, logs checks, and deposits them at the bank.
  • Donor stewardship: prepares donation acknowledgement letters and elevates major donor letters to Director of Development and/or Executive Director as needed.
  • Reporting: prepare historical donation reports for analysis.
  • Grant Administration: monitor grant reporting deadlines proactively and notifies the appropriate team(s) of needed materials.
  • Filing: weekly processing of expense approvals to relevant folders for access.
  • Digital file management: oversee the administration of the organization’s file sharing folders (currently Google drive).

WHO YOU AREYour background:

  • 1+ years of experience in administrative roles that include management of data and/or filling.
  • Able to enter data into various computer programs with a high degree of accuracy.
  • 1+ years of experience with accounts receivable, banking, and/or similar accounting functions.
  • Experience with Salesforce and cloud based accounting systems a plus
  • You have a flexible demeanor willing to handle the “front of house” transactions with a people-oriented mindset while maintaining a high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEIBJ.

WHAT WE OFFERCarbon180 is deeply committed to providing market-leading compensation and robust benefits to our employees. Our salaries are in the 70th percentile of the Washington, DC market. We employ an external firm to conduct market analyses every three years, and we are committed to safeguarding internal salary equity. For those reasons, we have a non-negotiation policy on salaries.The starting salary for this position will be between $87,156 – $93,612 with opportunities for growth up to $112,980.Carbon180 prides itself on offering benefits and perks to our employees that illustrate how we live our values, including:
