Would you like to play a crucial role in the delivery of an ambitious masterplan and capital projects programme at sites across the Science Museum Group?About usThe Science Museum Group (SMG) is an organisation at an exciting point in its development. We are a group of six sites – five national museums and one collections storage site. As well as running our visitor attractions and looking after our collections, we are responsible for a large physical estate that comprises over 100 different buildings.We are currently working on an ambitious programme of Masterplan and Capital Projects work that will see us transform our physical estate. A particular focus over the next few years will be on the Science Museum in London, where three major, multi-million pound gallery redevelopments are planned.We are now recruiting for a Finance Business Partner (Capital Projects) to join on a fixed term contract for 12 months. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week and can be based at either the Science Museum in London or the Science and Innovation Park in Wroughton, Swindon, with hybrid working available.About the roleAs Finance Business Partner (Capital Projects) you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the masterplan and capital projects programmes, acting as the Finance Business Partner for the projects being delivered at the Science Museum and at our storage site at Wroughton in Wiltshire.You will be involved from the initial planning stages, through delivery and construction and then to business-as-usual operation, working closely with project teams, our Programme Management Office (PMO) and the wider finance team. You will work with our programme teams to ensure that we achieve the required balance of quality, time and cost across the portfolio of projects.You will understand and own the financial elements of the overall programme business cases, identifying and mitigating financial risks to the programme and delivering clear and informative reports to the programme team and other stakeholders.You will be part of the Capital Programmes and Projects team in the finance department, working alongside other Finance Business Partners and a Management Accountant based across SMG. You will also work closely with our team of operational Finance Business Partners and with our controllership function, which includes a financial technology and data analytics team that produces many of the capital project reports you will rely on and present to stakeholders.About youJoining us, you will have a relevant accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) that allows you to understand, sense check and challenge financial information when reported. Additionally, you will have the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, understanding their requirements, managing competing priorities and building effective relationships.Crucially, you will have the ability to present financial information to non-specialist audiences.
