Job Title: Finance ManagerReporting to: Director of FinanceLocation: Ontario, CanadaSalary: CAD 90,000Contract: Permanent – Full timePlease note we will only be accepting applications from candidates with the Right To Work Ontario, Canada.Principal AccountabilityAs a key member of the Canada finance team, the Finance Manager is part of the global finance team working across 5 countries in Africa, the USA, UK and Australia with responsibility for financial planning, management accounting, analysis and reporting.Who we areCAMFED Canada became a Canadian charity in 2017 and is a member of the global CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) Consortium which was founded in 1993. CAMFED has already supported 6.5 million children to go to school across Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and Ghana, including 1.8 million girls at secondary school level. We’ve developed a proven solution that helps girls to thrive in school and equips them with the skills and community support they need to succeed. Now we’re on a mission to support millions more vulnerable girls in rural Africa to thrive and succeed in secondary school and gain the skills they need to transition to work and leadership. Small but powerful, the CAMFED Canada team challenges all of its members to stretch themselves and work out of the box to contribute to this meaningful work.Specific Accountabilities:Finance and AccountingManage the Canada day-to-day finance function, including review of transactions, record-keeping, payment runs, and bankingPrepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packs, including but not limited to income and expenditure trackers, consolidated balance sheets, and cash flow trackers for the Director of Finance’s reviewManage the month-end closing with support from the Global Finance Teams for the preparation of consolidated accounts for CAMFED CanadaTake primary responsibility for preparing and managing all accounting records, drafting journal entries, and maintaining the general ledgerPrepare monthly bank reconciliations and manage the preparation of income and balance sheet reconciliations for review by the Director of FinanceLiaise with Development Operations and other departments on income processing and codingAct as the lead point of contact for managing the annual external and internal audit preparation and processesManage the cash flow and funds held in Canada, providing recommendations to the Director of Finance where appropriatePlanning, Budgeting, and ReportingManage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial procedures and prepare reports for review by the Director of FinancePrepare quarterly and annual financial statements, budget vs. actual reports, cash flow forecasts, and narrative financial reports for the Director of Finance’s reviewLead the preparation of CAMFED Canada’s annual budget, coordinating with departmental budget holders, managing budget performance during the year, and supporting re-forecasting as requiredCompliance and CollaborationAssist in the ongoing development of CAMFED Canada’s financial policies, systems, and processes, ensuring alignment with best practicesLine management responsibilities for the Canada finance teamCollaborate closely with Program Finance Manager and Development team in grant reporting and budgeting for new proposalsSupport the Director of Finance in preparing regulatory filings required by law in Canada, including but not limited to Charity Returns, Corporate Returns, HST Rebates, etcWork closely with Finance teams in the UK, U.S., Africa, and other jurisdictions for month-end closing and other prioritiesEnsure smooth collaboration across departments, fostering a strong working relationship with the global finance teams and other department headsAny other duties as requiredPerson SpecificationCPA Canada credential required7 years of work experience, including a minimum of three years in a managerial role, preferably in a not-for-profit organizationExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsExceptional proficiency with Microsoft applications, particularly ExcelSignificant experience in compliance and reporting for the Canada Revenue AgencyAbility to work effectively with colleagues remotely across international teams, with flexibility to accommodate time zone differences as necessaryStrong commitment to and passion for CAMFED’s work, values, and visionCurrent eligibility to work in Canada (preferably living in Ontario) without requiring sponsorship or work permitCAMFED ValuesThe post holder is expected to live the CAMFED values which are:Focus on the girl as clientPartner with the CommunityBe transparent and accountableEquality, Diversity and Inclusion at CAMFEDCAMFED is an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
