At Red Door, we strive for quality care, advocacy,collaboration, Integrity, and accountability.Position Overview: The Finance Manager at Red Door oversees and organizes all financial and accounting processes. This involves developing short-term and long-term financial plans, setting priorities and objectives, advising senior management on funding needs, and proposing budgets for funding approvals. Additionally, the Finance Manager develops and implements financial policies, systems, and procedures, evaluates and approves financial reporting systems and accounting methods, and recommends changes to improve financial controls. This position works closely with the Executive Director and oversees financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and funder engagement.Responsibilities:

  • Recommend long-term financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide financial advice to the ED and senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead the coordination and compilation of the annual budget. Provide tools, templates, and training to assist with the budgeting process and effective budget management.
  • Provide financial projections and insights for strategic planning.
  • Ensure the budget aligns with goals and financial regulations. Track financial performance against the budget and report variances.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the ED, board, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements and reports.
  • Manage the entire accounts payable cycle by coordinating with various teams to ensure invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time.
  • Accountable for the employee credit card and expense reimbursement process and tools
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with regulations and management of the payroll system.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports for city and provincially funded programs, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial records, ensuring adherence to accounting policies and donor covenant requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to support the financial needs of various programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, all applicable regulatory and financial reporting requirements, and taxes, including all CRA filings.
  • Assist in developing and improving financial systems and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets. Identify and mitigate financial risks to ensure stability.
  • Support and lead the audit process with the external auditors, addressing findings and implementing improvements.
  • Manage insurance policies and ensure adequate coverage for the organization’s assets and liabilities.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a management position and in a not-for-profit organization and understanding of City and Provincial funding and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, macros, Power Pivot, BI tools).
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage high work volumes.
  • Solution-oriented problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to provide exceptional customer service while encouraging adherence to processes.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.
  • Experience managing/mentoring other finance professionals is an asset.
