Due to significant growth we are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join our friendly finance team to provide guidance, advice, and challenge the courier network. This role is more field based than most, with travel into the network to be close to the business and the operational challenges the team face. You will cover the North regions and could look a wide remit of locations from Birmingham up to Glasgow. You will influence directly or through a team of finance business partners, effective performance and risk management with your operational partner to deliver improved value for Evri.

You will be accountable for:

Financial Planning

  • Supporting the Head of Finance, you will ensure the Operational Pillar’s strategic intent is captured in the strategic plan and that key plans / initiatives are prioritised and embedded, with appropriate reference to payback and returns;
  • Supporting the Head of Finance, you will translate strategic plans into tactual budgets and plans, with engagement of key operational stakeholders, to ensure ownership and delivery within the Operations team;
  • Working collaboratively with the Central Operations Finance team, you will ensure budgets are produced for your area, which are robust, stretching and incorporate all key business plans and initiatives;
  • Through regular partnering, be abreast of all material risks and opportunities (R&Os) in your operational pillar, to ensure risks are mitigated and opportunities and capitalised on;
  • Ensure all material R&Os are discussed and communicated back to the Central Operations Finance team and rolled into financial out-turns and projections, to provide insight to Operational Directors and the ability to course correct;

Performance Management

  • Through strong relationship building, you will create a quality working relationship with your director of operations to enable effective influence, trust and respect;
  • Bring impact, clarity and improvements to operational financial performance through their regular performance management rhythm and meetings, ensuring committed actions are agree, documented and tracked;
  • Tell the performance story, with impactful, simple and clear slides on weekly, periodic and on longer-term performance trends.

Data, Reporting, and Insights

  • Ensure all reports are fit for purpose and that all KPIs are value driver based. Make recommendations for improved performance reporting to the Central Operations Finance team;
  • Co-ordinate locally deliver insights from existing reporting and information, that provide in the moment guidance and support to the operations team;
  • Co-ordinate the production of deeper impactful analysis and insights, with clear conclusions that lead to actions and improve business performance, through the Central Operations Finance team;
  • Think innovatively and deliver continuous improvement in the Finance department;

Financial Governance and Control

  • Working closely with the Central Operations Finance Team, effectively evaluate operational decisions and ensure that trials are tracked and assessed appropriately;
  • Ensure decisions follow the appropriate sign off, authority and governance routes, and influence stakeholders to ensure the right priorities are progressed;
  • Acting as the Finance approver and challenger for headcount changes in your supported operational pillar;
  • Ensure a strong risk and control environment exists within your supported pillar, championing strong local financial control.

Leadership

  • Either through direct or indirect (outside of the line) leadership, coach and develop our team, with a real emphasis on inclusion, with equal opportunities for all, and creating a high performing team;
  • Support and empower the team in the development of a standardised, consistent and effective approaches;
  • Empower and cultivate a continuous improvement culture and that focuses on adding value, and removing non-value added activity from the team / business;
  • Champion the use of innovative techniques and tools to deliver industry leading business partnering

To be successful you will a multi-disciplined finance professional with experience working within part as a business partner model, You will have a deep understand of financial appraisal and decision support; accompanied with strong analytics and modelling skills to support performance improvement and unpicking complex problems. Ideally you will work within a large scale business such as retail or logistics.

Qualifications – Chartered accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) & a UK driving license
