The Ultra Finance function leads the budgeting and forecasting processes and supports the strategy process, as well as managing performance against budget. In addition, it ensures that effective financial controls are in operation in all businesses to ensure stewardship of the Group’s assets. It ensures compliance with best professional standards, statutory financial requirements and fiscal provision and undertakes tax planning activities and ensure that the Group’s tax reporting duties are discharged. It ensures that the Group has adequate long-term funding to meet the requirements of its Strategic Plan and supports M&A.

Financial Planning & Performance Reporting in Ultra is responsible for maintaining and developing financial models and reports that provide management and investors insight for future decisions, supports performance management and identifies opportunities to further enhance corporate profitability. It supports the management and execution of long range plans, annual budgeting and forecasting processes, and strategies and operational initiatives against stated objectives. A professional at this grade applies technical / professional knowledge, making independent judgements based on practice and significant previous experience to support decision making. Often seen as a referral point or more senior team member to escalate more complex problems. Roles will act independently with minimal guidance, and may act as project managers/formal mentors for junior staff.

Overview

Working closely with the Head of Reporting, Group Financial Controller and Group Treasurer, the Finance Manager will have a broad scope with exposure to senior stakeholders across the business. You will be responsible for the preparation of Group rolling cash flow forecasts, co-ordinating the budget and reforecast processes and ad-hoc projects. The role is suited to a pro-active and ambitious qualified accountant who is looking to further progress their career, financial planning and analysis skills, technical accounting knowledge and personal development in a private equity backed Group.

Key Responsibilities

Group Rolling Cash Flow Forecast

Work with the Group Treasurer to own the weekly rolling cash flow forecast for the Group. This includes but is not limited to:

– Obtaining and consolidating cash flow forecasts from the businesses

– Reconciling forecasts provided on a weekly basis to budgets/quarterly re-forecasts and reviewing variances

– Reviewing submissions and challenging the businesses where necessary

Intercompany Loans

Work with the Group Treasurer to ensure that all new intercompany loans are documented and understood.

Budgets and Quarterly Reforecasts

Co-ordinate the submission and consolidation of the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts for the Group. This includes but is not limited to:

– Liaising with the Divisional Financial Controllers and FP&A leads to submit their data into OneStream

– Consolidating the budgets and forecasts and reviewing for reasonableness

Projects

Lead and manage projects across the Group Finance team including Financial Reporting, Tax and Treasury.

Statutory Reporting

Support the Head of Group Reporting with the year-end process. This includes but is not limited to:

– Preparation of supplemental working papers for the audit

– Liaising directly with external auditors

Qualifications and Experience

The Finance Manager needs to be a qualified chartered accountant, preferably with a ‘Big 4’ background, with a minimum of two years’ post qualification experience, together with the following:

– Experience working in a large Group environment

– Experience in budgeting and forecasting

– Exposure to multi-currency environments

– Educated to a bachelor degree level prior to qualification

– Strong Excel and other Microsoft application skills

Desirable

– Experience auditing or preparing large Group multi-currency consolidations

– Experience auditing or preparing statutory accounts (FRS 101)

– Technical IFRS accounting experience

– Experience with a consolidation system, ideally OneStream
