Finance OfficerDuration: 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (January – May 2025)
Salary: £24,698 – £26,700 FTE
Hours: Part-time (26.25 hours per week), spread over 4 or 5 days per week
Location: Hybrid working, with 2 days per week in the office near Lichfield, DE13
Start Date: Week commencing 6th January 2025Charity People are excited to be working with a leading charity that honours and supports the Armed Forces community through remembrance and fundraising initiatives. They are seeking a skilled Finance Officer to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes during this temporary period.As the Finance Officer, you will handle purchase invoice processing, ensuring compliance with approval protocols. You will reconcile supplier statements, request outstanding invoices, and collaborate with the colleagues on purchase order management. Key responsibilities also include timely invoice payments, cash management, and preparing sales journals for the Restaurant, Coffee Shop, and Retail Shop, ensuring alignment with bank deposits, credit card receipts, and relevant systems.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable:
- Process purchase invoices, ensuring correct approvals and timely payment.
- Reconcile supplier statements and aged creditor balances, addressing discrepancies promptly.
Cash Management:
- Reconcile and bank cash takings and cheques.
- Post ticket and income receipts, ensuring accurate coding in the ledgers.
Journals and Reconciliations:
- Prepare and reconcile sales journals for retail and restaurant income.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies.
Other:
- Assist with audit preparation, respond to queries, and provide supporting documentation.
- Provide holiday cover for other finance team members.
- Support the team during key events such as Armed Forces Day.
What We’re Looking For:
- Essential: AAT qualification or equivalent experience.
- Skills: Strong experience in accounts payable and receivable, journal preparation, and reconciliations. Competency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel.
- Attributes: Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adopt a flexible approach.
