FirstGroup works hard to reduce its impact on the environment, introducing cleaner and more environmentally responsible methods of transport.About the jobTo provide the Infrastructure and Property team with efficient and effective financial support with regards to the issuing of purchase orders and payment of invoices.To ensure accurate upkeep of various databases and provide financial support to Project Managers as required.Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Create purchase orders using the SAP Finance Management System and communicate with various suppliers to support the efficient issuing of purchase orders and answer questions around accounts payable.
  • Coding and timely processing of invoices through liaising with the Project Managers and various Senior Managers to ensure appropriate authority has been obtained.
  • Accurate and timely updates of various Estates finance databases and liaising with the SWR Accounts Payable department to ensure efficient and effective processing and payment of invoices to suppliers.
  • Help to prepare financial summaries and account reconciliations as required including monthly accruals for the Finance Department.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for all financial accounting procedures including purchase orders, invoices and authorisations.
  • Various duties and financial projects as they arise.

You’ll need:

  • Experience in appropriate IT packages including SAP, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Ideally have some form of higher education
  • Previous experience in an office environment
  • Experience of financial administration and clear evidence of experience in accurate financial record keeping and administration
  • Have a well organised and methodical approach to monitor activities to agreed timescales
  • Have a sound knowledge of procurement procedures.
  • Able to prioritise workload appropriately and work on own initiative
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) including excellent telephone manner
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must be adaptable and able to effectively work in a small team

Applicants who require a visa must have 6 months remaining at the time of their appointment. Training is full time and you must be able to commit to this.About the locationBasingstoke Campus, more commonly known as the ROC, is a state-of-the-art Operating Centre and training facility located a short walk from Basingstoke station. It is a shared facility with Network Rail and is the hub for all operations across the Wessex region.
