Job description
We’re seeking a proficient Systems Accountant, this role will be to drive the continuous improvement of the organisations financial systems. The role will have a hybrid working arrangement. You will need to be in the office approximately 2-3 days per week, with the remaining days being remote work from home.
Systems Accountant duties:
- Serve as the primary contact and facilitator for all inquiries, requests for improvements, and changes to the organisations financial systems.
- Act as the lead finance team liaison with IT colleagues on all major financial systems issues and enhancement requests.
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts and ensure any changes are reflected in reporting hierarchies across all affected systems.
- Be the finance team’s Oracle super-user and ensure all critical system administration tasks meet standards.
- Collaborate with business users and IT to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the P2P purchase ordering system, including supporting system development.
- Become the technical lead on Bluebox to ensure rent and service charge deliverables are met by providing solutions and guidance on system optimization.
- Support the Capital Finance team in setting up scheme codes, building development scheme reports, and streamlining intercompany recharges.
- Manage end-user queries, triage, and resolve issues as necessary.
- Coordinate access matrices for all finance team members to maintain appropriate segregation of duties per role. Work with IT to uphold a robust, appropriate system controls environment.
- Keep financial systems documentation, including development team user guides, maintained and updated.
- Support auditors with GL data extraction and completeness.
- Project manage implementation of approved new financial software and changes/upgrades to existing software.
- Work with finance colleagues on process reviews to improve efficiency via enhanced software solutions.
- Lead change management initiatives to transition personnel from legacy software/systems and discontinue as needed (i.e. Insight).
- Assist the Treasury team on projects including a new TMS and SQL loan security database enhancements; contribute to system administration of electronic banking.
- Develop robotic automation processes to improve efficiency, system integration, and cross-system interfaces.
- Manage software provider relationships and contracts.
- Contribute to developing system solutions to harmonize, improve, and automate processes.
- Support P2P system development.
- Act as lead developer of the Spreadsheet Server management reporting system; work with finance colleagues to maximize utility for the team and budget holders.
- Proficient in writing and developing SQL scripts from Oracle, P2P, Northgate, Bluebox, and other databases as needed.

The successful Systems Accountant will be:
- Qualified accountant preferred, or partially qualified with commitment to complete certification.
- Knowledge of the social housing sector.
- Formal IT expertise recognition desired (e.g. IT-related degree).
- Understanding of the housing market and diverse housing tenures available.
- Skilled in using Oracle Financials R12 – ability to configure and amend Oracle Financials.
