This position will focus on financial planning and analysis for a single-family office and supporting the Director of Finance and Portfolio Manager. The corporate structure involves working with:

  • The single-family office and its affiliated service companies which support and supervise contractors.
  • Working as a part of the management team who monitors portfolio investments, public and private; including working with financial departments at a renewable energy company and other industrial private equity companies.
  • Multiple capital market and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Update financial forecasts for the existing investments in Canada and overseas.
  • Build, maintain and manage financial models for public and private investments with the Director of Finance.
  • Manage and maintain a research universe of coverage and database of portfolio companies.
  • Conduct supervised due diligence and portfolio monitoring under a Portfolio Manager and Director of Finance.
  • Assist the CFO in his duties of developing financial reports for the Principals and Fund Manager.
  • Monthly valuation of private investments for NAV calculation.
  • Reconciliation of the financial statements between various direct and indirect subsidiaries.
  • Consolidation of the financial statements for the renewable holding company.
  • Financial analysis of potential investments / acquisitions.
  • Monitor the financial markets daily, as part of a portfolio management team.
  • Execute trades in the public and private markets for the portfolio management team.
  • Generate market reports for the portfolio management investment team.
  • Assist the VP Finance / CFO with annual audits and capital raising discussions.
  • Additional finance-related assignments as required.
  • Work full capital market hours, from an office setting at minimum from 7am to 5:30 PM MST, and possibly work later as necessary depending on deadlines and deliverables for trades or project deadlines.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in business / accounting / finance.
  • CFA designation or equivalent, or demonstrated intention to obtain CFA designation.
  • At least 5 years of financial planning and analysis experience.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Fluency in English and Russian and / or Ukrainian language.
  • Able to work in a team environment or independently as required.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Ability to prioritize job functions under stressful circumstances.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience of working for an investment bank or hedge fund investment team focused on energy markets.
  • Programming skills in Python, C# and Pearl.
  • Experience with Bloomberg.
