OverviewDo you have experience in financial accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, financial analysis, and finance-related research & analysis? We have an opportunity for a financial analyst to join a team responsible for maintaining financial accounting sub-ledgers and books of account, and providing consultation to management regarding the budget preparation and accounting related matters. In addition, you’ll perform analysis regarding a variety of variance and costs related reports, research and write corporate financial policies and procedures, and prepare financial briefing notes and presentations for senior management.How you’ll make a difference: You’ll help protect the financial integrity of B.C.’s workers’ compensation system.Where you’ll workWorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.What you’ll do
- Maintain financial accounting sub-ledgers and prepare financial reports and working papers
- Provide a consultative service to clients regarding the accounting process
- Prepare a variety of financial cost analyses from a historical and projected perspective
- Assist in developing and drafting accounting and related policies and procedures
- Exhibit aptitude in maintaining books of accounts and financial analysis

- Research and prepare financial reports, cost analysis reports, statistical tables and graphs
- Review financial reports and records; identify significant variances and trends and investigate as necessary
- Research and draft corporate financial policies and procedures, and business processes
- Research and draft corporate financial briefing notes and presentations
Your background and experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or any related discipline
- A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
- A minimum of two years of related experience in financial accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, financial analysis, and finance-related research & analysis.
- Knowledge of financial policies and procedures and business process risk and control procedures
